College football season starts today. The first notable game will be tonight, No. 14 Boise State vs. No. 16 Oregon. I have no clue who is going to win this game, but I’m rooting for Boise State to win and their running back to do well. Then on Saturday 3 big games come on.
The first game is No.13 Georgia at No.9 Oklahoma St. This is a battle between the SEC and Big 12. Usually I will side with the SEC team because of defense, but this game is different. I expect Oklahoma St. to win. Oklahoma St. has a very good offense and they have their best wide receiver returning. If Oklahoma St. manages block well and keep the ball in the air, they should be all right. Georgia on the other hand may have to rely on their to win. Georgia has lost their Quarterback, Matthew Stafford, star receiver, Mohamed Massaquoi, and running back, Knowshon Moreno. I look forward to watching this game, and it should be a battle to the end.
Then at 7 PM No. 3 Oklahoma faces No. 20 BYU, at home. That game will not be a walk in the park for Oklahoma. BYU is known for their offense, especially, when it comes to passing. BYU’s offense is similar to the famous, West Coast Offense. Then there's Oklahoma. Who has Sam Bradford and the Oklahoma offense. Oklahoma also has a pretty good defense, which can stop the pass, and when all else fails BYU will pass. I think Oklahoma will win, but BYU is going to put up a fight.
To rap up Saturday night, No. 7 Virginia Tech faces. No. 5 Alabama at a neutral loocation. That should make an impact since there is no home-field advantage. I think this will be the most exciting game of the day. It’s going to be Virginia Tech's offense, defense, and special teams versus Alabama's offense and defense. I think Virginia Tech is going to win this game. There offense is very good and Tyrod Taylor is becoming more of a pocket quarterback and less of a scrambler. I look for Taylor to have a big impact on this game. Also, he has a good wide receiver core, along with a good running back.
Like Georgia, Alabama’s known for their defense. In this case, the Crimson Tide may also have to rely on their defense. Alabama has lost four important players on offense and one on defense. They loss their Quarterback, John Parker Wilson, Running Back, Glen Coffee, Offensive Tackle, Andre Smith, Center, Antoine Caldwell, and Safety Rashad Johnson. Alabama is going to be playing with young players and they are all going to have to work together, to bring home a win. In this game, I’m going with Virginia Tech over the Crimson Tide.
Saturday is going to hold 3 important games and possibly one upset. California and Maryland will be playing each other as well, and that game will be a toss-up. But I expect Cal to pull through with a win. After this Saturday, the games will only get tougher for everyone as the College Football season progresses.
